Sit down and watch. (2022)

The purpose of this interactive installation was to recreate the experience of watching traditional cable TV. In the last decade, the world saw a shift from cable TV to YouTube and to streaming plate forms. With that shift, cable TV slowly became a forgotten media that was so loved and cherished prior. This shift made me want to document cable TV as I experienced it in the early 2000s to around 2012 or 2013 where a mass of people started consuming an increasing amount of online content. There are 100 TV channels based on real cable TV with multiple types of TV content both in French and English to recreate the experience of someone living in Québec and Ontario during that period of time. Some of the clips were specifically chosen due to their nostalgic feeling and due to their importance to pop culture. This experience of going through channels is accompanied with an old box TV, a remote control, a sofa and some cushions to immerse yourself in the experience of sitting down and watching TV during the 2000s.
